Trainers for the wood industry meet in Portugal

In December 2012 the first partnership meeting for the project Woodworker Abroad took place in Porto, Portugal. Albano Vasconcelos Rodrigues, principal of a vocational training school for the wood and furniture industry, Centro de Formação Profissional das Indústrias da Madeira e mobiliario, hosted the meeting. The participants deliberated a comparative study of the Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Finnish and Swedish upper secondary vocational education content for the wood and furniture sector. The program also included a visit to the Swedwood factory in Penamaior outside Porto. It produce mainly the table Lack, but also other products such as bookshelf Expedit. The factory has about 1,400 employees working in three shifts. The partnership project is part of our efforts to ease the mobility for workers and students in Europe. We are interested in working with other organizations continuing this work by participating in a Leonardo da Vinci PLM-project in 2013. The next project meeting will take place in Lissone, Italy in April 2013.
